He was born on November 7, 1924, in Hancock County to the late Everett and Mabel (Deck) Woodruff. He married Marilyn Beck on April 23, 1949, and she survives. He was born on November 7, 1924, in Hancock County to the late Everett and Mabel (Deck) Woodruff. He married Marilyn Beck on April 23, 1949, and she survives. Also surviving are their sons: Steven (Marcia) of Cincinnati, Keith (Colleen) of Madison, WI and Kevin (Jason) Woodruff of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren: Michael, Jonathan, Laura, David and Alec Woodruff; great-grandchildren: Noah and Aasta Woodruff; brothers: Donald, Ralph (Ruth), Robert (Lucille), all of Findlay and Richard of Maumee; a sister, Marilou Van Scoit of FL. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Woodruff; brothers: Doyle and Gerald Woodruff; sisters: Doris Brown, Wilma Bundy and Elouise Altman. Willis retired in 1986, from Dow Chemical after 25 years, and worked 7 years for Rossford Ordinance. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served our country in World War II. He was a 20 year member of the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad, 65 year member of the Ralph D. Cole Post 3 American Legion and was the Past Commander of Military Order of Purple Heart. He was a 50 year member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Findlay and was a former assistant Scout Master for Troop 308. Willis enjoyed his woodworking, his fishing and his golf. He was very proud of his service to this country. But what really put the twinkle in his eye was being with and talking about his family and friends. He was a wonderful and caring husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him dearly but will never forget the lessons of life and love he taught us all. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Reverends Terry Pontius and Lowell Reeder officiating. Burial will be in Zion Bloom Cemetery, Amanda Township, where full military rites will be conducted by the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday and 1 hour (10-11 a.m.) prior to the service Thursday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad and/or Bridge Home Health and Hospice and/or a charity of the donor's choice, in his memory.
