Description	:	Willis W. Heitmann of Byron, Neb., the son of Louis and Meta (Bohling) Heitmann, was born June 10, 1934 on a farm four miles northwest of Byron, Neb. He departed this life Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Neb. at the age of 78 years 1 month 25 days. He was baptized June 11, 1934 at his home by Pastor Leo Hoefer. Heitmann of Byron, Neb., the son of Louis and Meta (Bohling) Heitmann, was born June 10, 1934 on a farm four miles northwest of Byron, Neb. He departed this life Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Neb. at the age of 78 years 1 month 25 days. He was baptized June 11, 1934 at his home by Pastor Leo Hoefer. He received his religious instructions at St. Peter Lutheran Church rural Byron and was confirmed June 20, 1948. He attended rural grade schools in the area and graduated from Byron High School with the class of 1952. Willis married Delores Gebers on May 8, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Byron with Pastor Orville Reeg officiating. The couple made their home one and a half miles east of Byron on his grandfather Bohling's home place where this union was blessed with the birth of three children. Willis was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He served on the church council numerous times and taught Sunday school. Willis was a lifelong farmer and stockman. He also spent hours in the shop welding and fabricating things for the farm along with tinkering just for fun to see if he could do it. He enjoyed hunting and traveling with Delores in the United States and Canada, but most of all Willis loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-in-law Egbert Schardt, Mervin Gerdes and Virgil Vinkenberg. He is survived by his wife Delores of Byron, Neb.; two sons: Darrell Heitmann of Byron, Neb., and Darcy Heitmann and wife Anne of Hebron, Neb.; one daughter: Marcia Heitmann of Fairbury, Neb.; one brother: Lavern Heitmann and wife Verla of Hardy, Neb.; three sisters: Loretta Schardt of Byron, Mildred Bliefernich and husband Bernie of Kearney, Neb., and Margorie Vinkenberg of Hebron, eight grandchildren: Jason Bendure and wife Stef of Downers Grove, IL., Jennifer Bowell and husband Heath of Olathe, Kan., Kelly Heitmann and wife Jany of Inman, Kan., Michael Ringen and wife Tara of Beatrice, Neb., Matthew Ringen and wife Natalie of Omaha, Neb., Sharla Wendeln and husband Mathias of Beatrice, Russell and Rachel Heitmann both of Hebron, six great-grandchildren: William Bendure of Downers Grove, IL., Addison Bowell of Olathe, Kan., Jaylie Heitmann of Inman, Kan., Nevaeh and Eden Ringen both of Beatrice, Neb., and Alayna Ringen of Omaha, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron with officiant Pastor Myron Meyer, organist Ruby Eggers, and soloist Jane Roesner Graves. Casket bearers; Lyle Schardt, Lanny Gerdes, David Heitmann, Dan Vinkenberg, Ryan Schardt, Terry Gerdes, Steve Heitmann, honorary casket bearers are the grandchildren. Soloist Jane Graves singing "Blest Are They", congregational hymns will be "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Blessed Assurance" and "The Strife Is O'er, The Battle Done." Visitation will be Tuesday August 7, 2012 from 9am to 7pm at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron, Neb., and one hour before service time at church. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Byron. Memorials in care of the family. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home of Hebron, Neb. is in charge of arrangements.
