After attending high school in Allerton, IA, Wilma completed her Normal Training and began teaching at a one-room school house. Wilma was united in marriage to Marvin Dean Ellis, Sr. on December 24, 1928. Their marriage was blessed with four children. The very definition of an Iowa farm wife, Wilma worked side by side with Marvin on their farm near Weldon, IA. Wilma was also a busy member of the Ladies' Aid of Leroy Presbyterian Church for many years. Though they were plenty busy, there was always time to attend the sporting events and other school activities of their children and grandchildren. They lived there for 52 years until they moved to Osceola, IA in 2001. Wilma loved playing cards with friends and family, tending to her flower garden and cooking fantastic meals for those she loved. Her specialty was whatever you wanted. Wilma also loved fishing and would sneak off with her grandchildren or great grandchildren to throw in a line whenever she had the chance. Summers on the farm were filled with water fights, Trixie rides, marble games and laughter. Wilma was also a gifted quilter and there are quilts adorning the homes of her children and grandchildren as a warm and beautiful reminder of her love. She was preceded in death by parents Robert Austin Bryan and Tacy Clem (Amis) Bryan; sisters Eva (Bryan) Kelly and Ruth Bryan; brothers Cecil Bryan, Ralph Bryan, Wesley Bryan, Jessie Bryan, Cloyd Bryan and Clem Bryan; and two grandsons, Douglas Dean Ellis and William Lee Ellis. Wilma is survived by her daughter Erma Fight and husband Larry of Davenport, IA; son Marvin Ellis Jr. and wife Ruth of Weldon, IA; son Robert Ellis and wife Patricia of Star Prairie, WI; daughter Eva Davison of Davenport, IA; and sister-in-law Elva Mae Keller of Humeston, IA. Grandchildren are Debbie Smith and husband Tim of Walcott, IA; Diane Fight of Bettendorf, IA; Bob Ellis of Las Vegas, NV; Teresa Sabanty and husband Steve of St. Charles, IL; Davis Ellis and wife Dawn of Westminster, CO: Laura Klein of Star Prairie, WI. Great grandchildren are Megan and Alex Smith, Demitria Sabanty, Cole and Chase Klein.
