Lurkens, age 71, of Anamosa, died Saturday morning, December 19,1998 at her home following a brief illness. Funeral services were held 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, December 22 at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church Monticello, with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Egel will officiate at the services. Wilma Pauline Kray was born November 10, 1927 near Anamosa, She was the daughter of Henry William and Emma Margaret Weers Kray. She received her education in Cass Township School #1 and later attended the Anamosa High School, Wilma started working at the Reliance Shirt Factory in Anamosa following high school. Wilma married Johannes Schafer on December 23, 1947. He later preceded her in death . She married John Lurkens October 9,, 1964. The couple farmed in the Anamosa area until his death in 1974. Wilma worked as a housekeeper at the Hillcrest Motel and later for many Anamosa families. Surviving is a daughter, Elaine (Ron) Siebels, Anchorage, AK; one grandson Eric Siebels, Anchorage, AK; one step-son, Ralph Lurkens, Oakdale, CN; two step-daughters, Phyllis Arnold, Garland, TX and Joyce Demorest, Burleson, TX; six step-grandchildren; one brother, Willis (Ruth) Kray, Anamosa; three sisters, Dorothy (James) Stadtmueller, Monticello, Leona Osterkamp and Marietta Hormann, both of Anamosa; 12 nieces and 14 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, one grandson, Lance Siebels; four brothers, Edwin, Donald, Leonard and Kenneth; one sister, Henrietta Morning; one step—son, Wayne Lurkens and two nephews, Kevin Stadtmueller and Kerry Kray.
