He was adopted Oct. 25, 1941, by his loving parents, Gordon LeRoy and Jennie Elizabeth Miller Riley. He married Effie Marie Sutton Dec. 31, 1955. Riley and Thurlowe E. (Kathryn) Riley both of Ottumwa, and Mike S. Rhoads of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Jennie Sue (Kent) Taylor of Mingo, Rebecca Kay Jones of Independence, Mo., and Rat "Tina" Jones of Des Moines; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; his mother, Jennie Riley of Ottumwa; and a sister, Lelah Schliecher of Hiteman.He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Riley; a brother, Norman Sowle Jr.; five sisters, Vivian Baskovic, Annabelle Schliecher, Ethel Carder, infants Rosella and Mable Sowle.His body has been cremated.Masonic services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home.
