Description	:	Winnifred Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August H. Anderson, was born near Stanhope, Iowa, May 13, 1893. She attended the rural school and then enrolled in the school at Stanhope. She moved with the family to Indianola, Iowa in 1908 and there she entered high school and graduated in 1912. She spent two years in the University of Kansas at Lawrence, then entered Simpson College at Indianola but after few months was compelled to leave on account of her failing health. Anderson, was born near Stanhope, Iowa, May 13, 1893. She attended the rural school and then enrolled in the school at Stanhope. She moved with the family to Indianola, Iowa in 1908 and there she entered high school and graduated in 1912. She spent two years in the University of Kansas at Lawrence, then entered Simpson College at Indianola but after few months was compelled to leave on account of her failing health. Later she taught in the rural schools and came to Stratford in 1916. She went to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1920. There she taught a year in the public school and then became assistant to Dr. Conwal, physician of that city. As to her Christian life, Miss Anderson accepted Christ as her Savior and baptized into the faith of the Christian church when eleven years old by Rev. W.C. Cole, who was then pastor at Stanhope. She later transferred her membership to the Methodist church at Indianola. When she moved to Tulsa she united with the First Lutheran Church, her activites in the church life there were marked with zeal and devotion. She gave her energy and spiritual devotion also the founding of Faith Tabernacle and also rendered substantial assistance in various forms of the ministry of the Hillcrest Methodist Church. She was of winsome spirit and possessed a strong personality marked by a vital faith and devotion to God and a fervent zeal to be of use and render her noblest service to her fellow men for her Master's sake. She will be deeply missed by a large circle of friends and many souls will rise up to call her blessed. She had long been in failing health but tried hard to live and do good but the end came last Tuesday night when with a triumphant faith in God and a cheerful goodbye to those about her, she went to the house the Master had prepared for her. She was 32 years, 7 months, 19 days old. She is survived by her father, one sister, Jessamine Anderson of Tulsa, two brothers, Dr. Myron S. Anderson of Washington, D.C., and Stanley Anderson of Oelwein, Iowa. Her mother died in 1907. Funeral services were held in Tulsa Thursday forenoon at 10 o'clock at which services Dr. Leonard of the First Lutheran Church and Rev. Garvin of Faith Tabernacle, both spoke comforting words. The services were held from the Robt. McBirnie Funeral Home. The remains arrived in Stratford Friday and funeral services were held from the M.E. church here Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Flesher, pastor of the church. The Stanhope Male Quartet with Miss Della Hamilton as accompanist, sang several very beautiful selections. The remains were laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery in the family burial lot and beside the remains of her mother. Stratford Courier January 1926
