She was born on April 6, 1924, to Edna and James Wright in Pernell, OK. During World War II, she worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City. She moved to Manson, WA in 1943, and married Ed Batch. She was a homemaker for many years, working seasonally packing apples. She and Ed had two children, Tom and Kay. Winnie was the owner and operator of Winnie's Beauty Salon in Manson for many years. She and Ed also owned an apple orchard in Manson. Winnie was a member of the Manson United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She was a member of Silver Star Chapter of Eastern Star and Muscular Dystrophy Guild of Manson. She was a talented seamstress. In her younger years, she made dresses for her granddaughters, Kristin and Kerri Fuson. She also enjoyed painting and craft work. Winnie enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Batch, in 1999; by three bothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Tom (Linda) of Manson and Kay (Roger) Fuson of East Wenatchee; her sister, Wanda Gallagher of Manson; four grandchildren, Greg (Kristen) Batch of Naperville, IL, Kyle (Sompheng) Batch of Manson, Kristin Fuson of Seattle and Kerri (Tyler) Whitworth of Seattle; and four great-granddaughters, Ruby, Olive, Thea and Evie Batch. Thanks and gratitude to the many staff at Cashmere Convalescent Center, where Winnie spent her last years of life. A Tribute Service will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at North Shore Bible Church, 123 Wapato Point Parkway, in Manson. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Chelan. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy/Historical Guild E or the Manson Fire Department. Services have been entrusted to Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
