Description	:	Wyland Knutson was born on March 21, 1923 to Peter C. and Henrietta Knutson at the farm home southwest of Soldier. He attended all his school years in Soldier and graduated with the class of 1940. He worked on his parents farm and spent some summers in the wheat fields of Minnesota until he married. On March 24, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Cue at Logan, Iowa. Marilyn taught rural school for nearly eleven years in Harrison and Monona counties and for six years taught Remedial Reading in the East Monona System and was school librarian... Read More	Wyland Knutson was born on March 21, 1923 to Peter C. and Henrietta Knutson at the farm home southwest of Soldier. He attended all his school years in Soldier and graduated with the class of 1940. He worked on his parents farm and spent some summers in the wheat fields of Minnesota until he married. On March 24, 1945, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Cue at Logan, Iowa. Marilyn taught rural school for nearly eleven years in Harrison and Monona counties and for six years taught Remedial Reading in the East Monona System and was school librarian at Soldier for nearly two years. Their childrena are: Steven Wyland, born March 17, 1950; Shelly Jane, born October 24, 1953, and Terry Alan, born October 10, 1955. All three were baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Soldier Lutheran Church. In April of 1948 after farming for three years, Wyland started working for Monona County on the bridge crew. Several years later he became bridge crew foreman and still later he operated a maintainer. He retired in 1986 after thirty-eight years of service for the county following open heart surgery on October 1, 1985.
