She had two children by her first husband, Raymond Ashley Nielson, daughter Nellie LaVeta Nielson Lewis and son Ronald Neilson. Living most of her life in Kansas, she spent her last years with her daughter in Benton, Arkansas. Yula treasured her family keepsakes and maintained hundreds of old photographs.
