Description	:	Born at St-Jude, Les Maskoutains, Québec, Canada, Zoe spent much of her childhood in the lumber fields of St. Albans, Vermont. In 1849, her father, Regis Bouthillette, was recruited to help set up the first lumber fields of the Saginaw Bay region. The first part of their trek took the family to Hamtramck, Michigan, to await the arrival of her youngest brother, Henry, while her father traveled back and forth to Bay City via schooner to prepare a home for his young family. In 1849, her father, Regis Bouthillette, was recruited to help set up the first lumber fields of the Saginaw Bay region. The first part of their trek took the family to Hamtramck, Michigan, to await the arrival of her youngest brother, Henry, while her father traveled back and forth to Bay City via schooner to prepare a home for his young family. They were the very first family to move into Bay City. Prior to that there were single men who would travel back to Detroit or Canada to find a wife and bring her to Bay City. This marked the first migration of Quebecois into Central Michigan. The family arrived in Bay City in early 1850 and took up residence on the banks of the Saginaw river. Their school was just a few hundred feet away and the young parish of St. Joseph's was founded shortly after their arrival. The congregation met in the upper floor of the general store, also along the eastern shores of Bay City. She met the dashing young Joseph Cusson, who worked at the salt mill. They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in 1857. He went on to become the General Manager of the Salt Works. Zoe died of complications of childbirth and was survived by her husband and seven of their eight children: Josephine Joseph Wilford Francis Zoa Anna Beatrice George Ida (died shortly after birth)
