Description	:	The Greenwood Cemetery was Flagstaff's first community cemetery. By 1897 the cemetery was already suffering from neglect. That year the newspaper called for a fence to be built around the cemetery to protect the graves from grazing livestock. In 1904 there was talk of removing the identified remains from Greenwood to the Citizens Cemetery and an inventory showed 64 known graves with many more unmarked. In 1914, when the project was finally begun, the contractor hired to transfer the remains submitted an invoice for the removal of 40 identified remains.
