Description : REED COX CEMETERY Cemetery was under tallest tree on hill 2016 Stone will be put up soon with names of known buried Destroyed cemetery with unmarked graves in trees above parking lot of New Gold Hill Baptist Church Originally had field stones White man, Benjamin Phipps b ca 1761 was buried there in 1838. He wished to be buried with slaves he admired and liked. He was moved 100 years later to Benjamin Phipps family cemetery next to his wife. Well known African American Pastor Reed Cox was buried here. He collected money from former slaves to buy a stone for Benjamin Phipps. Stone is lost.
