Read More	In the absence of better information, I named this the Solomon Kessinger Farm Cemetery in honor of Solomon Kessinger, who was one of the original pioneer settlers in this section of Hart County. This cemetery may be located on the land Solomon Kessinger or his descendants owned. Another possibility is that this is the old Dorsey Chapel Cemetery, from which some of the graves may have been moved to the current site of the Dorsey Chapel Cemetery. My grandfather, Paul Kessinger, buried his infant daughter Pauline here when she passed, and arranged to be buried here beside her. At that time, this property was a farm that belonged to a neighbor, and may have been known as the Sullivan farm. This area is close to Line's Mill. Grandpa's mom was Dola Magdelene Line. The cemetery is most accessible through a private business owned by a Mr. Thompson (a distant relative - Grandma was Bessie Mae Thompson) who maintains the graveyard. My Uncle Nolan Kessinger used to contribute to the upkeep of this cemetery before he passed. The Thompson business is about a quarter mile south of the Dorsey Chapel, which is at the junction of Broadford Rd. and Hwy 728. Solomon Kessinger's great-grandson, Joseph Wood Kessinger, (son of William Logsdon Kessinger, son of Joseph Kessinger, son of Solomon Kessinger I) is buried here. He was married to Caroline Dorsey. They lived here for four years, during which time their son Robert was born. His grave is the oldest in this graveyard for which a date has been determined. Caroline Dorsey Kessinger's death certificate said she was interred at Dorsey Chapel Cemetery, but I have not been able to locate her grave either here with her husband or at the current Dorsey Chapel Cemetery. My grandfather's father, Robert Lively Kessinger, also was born here and lived here his entire life. He is buried at the Old Home Place Cemetery, probably south of Bacon Creek on Charles Jaggers Road. That property is the "old home place" for our group of Kessingers. It seems likely that Solomon Kessinger and other family members were buried at one of these two cemeteries. There are at least 22 burials or memorials that are indicated by names on headstones here, as well as some possible broken headstones, and many field stone markers. One burial is marked by an outline of fieldstones. Another small graveyard is adjacent to this cemetery, just on the other side of the northern property line, with at least five headstones; some are just a few years old, with the family name Moore. Because it is on an adjoining property, I will make a search for these graves and add them if they are not accounted for, under the name Moore Farm Cemetery.
