Read More	'The Madisonian,' Virginia City, MT 21 June 1935, page 1 (excerpted): Abraham Lincoln Wilcox, an old time freighter and pioneer of Alder gulch and the Ruby valley, died at his home in Virginia City early Tuesday morning following an illness of nearly two years. Mr. Wilcox, who was born Oct. 13, 1866, was the oldest of a family of ten children born to William and Margaret McDuff (sic) Wilcox, early day residents of Nevada City. After reaching maturity he worked at various occupations, being employed at different mines, as lineman for the Conrey Placer Mining company when they were operating the dredges in Alder gulch, and later as a freighter, which business he engaged in for many years. In 1907 he was married at Virginia City to Sarah Hull, after which they lived for a time at Summit and then at Alder, where they made their home continuously until a year ago when poor health from which Mr. Wilcox was suffering caused them to move to Virginia City to be nearer a doctor's care. Although his condition failed to improve, he was able to be up and around until about six weeks before his death, during which time he was bedfast. He was a member of the Montana Society of Pioneers and a former member of Alder Gulch Aerie No. 664, F. O. E. Funeral services for the deceased were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Raper Funeral chapel. The Rev. P. W. Haynes of the Methodist church of Sheridan conducted the religious services. Interment was made in Hillside cemetery. Besides his widow, Sara Hull Wilcox, he is survived by one brother, Allie Wilcox of Laurin, and several nieces and nephews. ~~ Lincoln Wilcox and Sarah Hull were married at Virginia City, Montana on July 7, 1907. He is aged 40, the son of William Wilcox and Margaret Duff. She is 35, the daughter of Marion Dunn and Jane Spray.
