Read More	Ada Carroll Spelz September 07, 1945 - August 22, 2019 Anyone who knew Ada Magdalene Carroll Spelz knew that she lived her faith and loved her family deeply. From the time she was little she knew she wanted to be a mom. Despite many people's insistence that she was supposed to become a religious sister like her aunt and great aunt namesakes, she waited patiently for her love Joseph Spelz to make his way from Chicago, IL to Southern MD and ask her out on a date. They married in 1978 at St. Cecilia Church in St. Mary's City, MD and raised 5 children (Zachary, Amy Travis, Sara Telfer, Elizabeth Sabo, and Judith Haas) in a house across the road from her parents. There was always more space in her heart and at her home for someone new. Ada excitedly embraced her 5 children's partners and friends. She always tried to figure out what her sons- and daughter-in-law (Kile Churman Spelz, Matthew Travis, Alex Telfer, and Carl Haas) liked to eat so that she could have their favorite foods when they came to visit. She was particularly excited to welcome babies. Like her mother, she would happily sit for hours cuddling a baby. Her great joy was spoiling her 9 grandchildren and while she disliked flying she jumped at the chance to visit them. The 6th of the 15 of Edna Agnes Ridgell Carroll and Bernard "Pete" Carroll, Ada was a life-long resident of St. Inigoes, MD. She worked on PAX River NAS in administration after graduating from St. Michael's High School in Ridge, MD until she had her first child Zack. She was a stay-at-home mom and regular volunteer at St. Michael's grade school until 2002, when she graduated a second time with her daughter Judy. Teachers were sad to have her graduate as the renowned holiday cinnamon rolls were eagerly anticipated by all. She worked as a secretary at St. Cecilia parish for more than 10 years and volunteered at the First District Catholic Aid Society. Ada loved music and often sang to herself as she went about her day. She enjoyed baking, making ice cream, playing 1010, and reading Georgette Heyer novels. Parents Edna and Pete, brothers Alan, Phil, George, David, and siblings-in-law Brenda, Mercie, David Trossbach as well as lots of extended family and friends were waiting to greet her as she passed.
