ADAM CLARK CRAMER Many friends of the Cramer family mourn with them at the passing of Adam Cramer, who for more than half a century has dwelt among us. He had been ill since last November, much of the time seriously so, but his friends had hoped that with the coming of spring his would regain his strength and be about as in days gone by. During his illness the family have been devoted to him and have given him every care and comfort that was possible. His wife has been in poor health most of the time but valiantly tried to do for him the things that she felt would ease his suffering. The son, Glen and his wife, were faithful in the3ir care and attention and brought much of cheer to declining days. Adam Clark Cramer, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Cramer, was born in Somerset, Pa., January 16, 1864. The family moved to Sabetha fifty-three years ago and became identified with the community life in various ways. Adam Cramer was the first postal telegraph operator in Sabetha. After a few years he became a plasterer and his ability and efficiency have for years been such that he has been called to various neighboring states as well as places all over Kansas to plaster large buildings and groups of buildings. Mr. Cramer was married to Miss Kittie Tozer, at Eldon, Iowa, December 26, 1886. They established a home in Sabetha where they have since lived. To this union were born four sons, two have preceded him in death; Neal at the age of seventeen, in 1906, and Edward Franklin, who died in infancy. Glen of Sabetha and Clark of Topeka survive. Adam Cramer was a conservative, honorable, upright citizen. He took a delight in building homes, doing much of the work himself. He loved to work with wood, shaping and designing pieces of furniture for his home and his family. He delighted in his home life and when his work called him away on large jobs, he made frequent trips home. He has long affiliated with the Methodist church, having become a member of that organization 37 years ago. He was faithful in attendance, loyal in his support, devoted in his faith. During his more than half a century of residence here, he has formed many friendships. To these he was always true, always dependable. His neighbors and friends felt free to go to him for help and advice. His sympathy and interest to them and their problems brought comfort and cheer and helped them to carry on. During his illness men and women who have known him through the years, have regretted their inability to relieve him of his suffering he bore so patiently. They longed to be of service to him. As the news of his passing became known, many a eulogy was expressed, many tributes uttered. The loss of a good citizen and fellow townsman brought sorrow to the populace. Mr. Cramer is survived by his wife and two sons, Glen and Clark; two brothers, E. C. Cramer of Netawaka and Henry Cramer of Sabetha and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. O. Borton. Interment was in the Sabetha Cemetery.
