DIED Neal Cramer passed from his long suffering to rest at 2:00 Sunday afternoon. The funeral was held at the M. E. Church Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. F. J. Fisk. The funeral was most beautiful and impressive, the many and beautiful floral offerings and the outpouring to participate in the last tribute of respect testifying in a marked manner to the esteem in which he was held and the sorrow at his death. The High School attended in a body and his class deposited their floral offerings at the grave. Neal Tozer Cramer was born in Sabetha August 13th, 1885, and died September 10th, 1905, aged seventeen years and 28 days. He was attacked by sickness early in June, and in a short time it became apparent that his only hope for recovery was through a surgical operation, and soon after the first, a second became necessary. His great vitality and courage enabled him to withstand these operations and regain much strength in a fight for life that seemed well nigh hopeless from the start. He begged to be at home, and after four weeks in the hospital was taken home, where every aid that medical skill could suggest ws supplemented in professional nursing and assiduous parental care. His courage and hopefulness never faltered and time after time he rallied and renewed the contest in a way that seemed marvelous. All through his weary sickness, he talked and planned cheerfully for the future. His bravery and tenacity buoyed up his parents and enabled them to sustain their hopes. When others could see no hope. Surely a contest with the grim destroyer has rarely been so stubbornly waged by one so young. Neal's whole short life has been spent in Sabetha. Some of the class mates who wept at his bier have gone side by side with him from the primary to the senior class of the High School, of which he would have been a member had he lived. He was studious and ambitious, industrious, of good habits, brave and gentle, and a dutiful son- a boy who would assuredly have made a splendid man. Only those who have passed through the same experience can know the bitter grief which wrings the parents hearts. The writer well knows how weak are mere words to assilage the first pangs of such a grief but kind words spoken now may hereafter, when time has softened the cruel wounds, steal as balm into the aching hearts and mingle with the fond memories of the loved and lost. Why Neal was brought into this world to be taken out of it just at the portals of a promising manhood is beyond mortal men. We can only bow in submission and hope that some sweet day, when the great, white shores of eternity unfold before our gaze, we'll understand.
