Feb 15, 1912 - Carroll Times - Word was received here Saturday of the death of Mrs. Adeline Yegge at Boxholm, Iowa. She had been ailing since October of last year. She received the best of care and attention at her daughter's home. She was at all times a patient sufferer, uncomplaining to the last, ever thankful to be spared so long to those she loved. Throughout her illness her trust was well placed in the One from whom she had received all health and strength throughout her life. She was confined to her bed from November 22, 1911. On the forenoon of February 5th she called her children to her bedside and told them that "the hour had come" and that she wished to bid them all farewell. Shortly after she fell into a deep sleep from which she never awakened, passing away at 7:20 in the morning of Feb. 10th. Adeline Garwick was born in Baden, Germany, February 19th, 1839. When five years old she came with her parents to this country and they settled in Monroe, Michigan. On September 10, 1861, she was married there to John F. Yegge. In 1885 they came to Carroll county and located on a farm north of this city. In 1899 they moved to Carroll and she had made her residence here since that time. Twelve children were born to the union of which four preceded her to the other shore as follows: (Jarl A. 1892; Frank, 1886; Ben J.W., 1872; Kate, 1883. The surviving children are Aloysius of Weskan, Kansas; John of Boone; Jacob of Denver, Colorado; Albert of Wesley, Iowa; Ida, Mrs. Wm. Staak of this city; Louise Mrs. McCoy of Woonsocket, South Dakota, Frederick of Boonesteel, South Dakota; Mary Adeline, Mrs. E. G. Johnson, of Boxholm, Iowa, and at whose home the mother passed away. Her husband, John F. Yegge, preceded her to the eternal home in 1903, in this city. The funeral services were held from St. Joseph church here Monday forenoon and the remains laid to rest beside those of her husband in the Catholic cemetery. Thus passes another of the pioneer women of Carroll county, one of the respected wives and mothers who have had an active interest in upbuilding of the community and citizenship of our community. During her residence here she was beloved and respected by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She was an excellent friend and neighbor. Her home ties were always those of the true wife and mother. She reared to manhood and womanhood the children spared to her a credit to the community in which they live. Her death brings universal sorrows to the community, to a host of loving friends and neighbors. The sorrowing and bereaved children have the sympathy of all in their deep loss.
