Hill 1927 Mrs. Adeline R.Hill, one of our well known pioneer mothers passed away at her home, on Monday, May 23, 1927 at the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months and seventeen days. Her health had been failing for a long time, but she had been helped from her bed to the couch nearly every day. On Saturday, May 21, 1927 she was taken suddenly worse and the doctor who was immediately summoned pronounced it a paralytic stroke. She lingered until May 3, when she passed away at 4:30 P.M. Adeline R. Hill, daughter of Samuel and Lois J. Knowles of Macedon, New York, was born June 10, 1839. Her childhood was spent at Macedon where she was educated at the Old Macedon Academy. In the year 1858 she was united in marriage to Willis Hill, of Macedon, New York. To this union were born eleven children, Lyman, Lewis, Alice, Myron, Imogene, William, Isabelle, Irene, Ernest, Lois and Mary. Of these, eight are still living. Lewis, Imogene and Irene have "Gone Before". In 1866 the family moved to Hudson, Michigan, where they resided until coming to Cherokee, Iowa about 1878, afterwards coming to O'Brien County in the year 1903. Mrs. Hill was kind and loving mother and friend who will be greatly missed by her children and all who knew her. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zwick of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. George Zwick of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. Will Hill and son Willie of Lake Button, Minnesota, Glenn Hill, Mrs. Irvin Sutton, and Mrs. L. B. Hill of Brookings, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hill and son Richard of Huron, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hill of Sioux City, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zwick of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. Will Jenkins of Washta, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Will Olhausen and sons of Moneta, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Wiese and son, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bruggman, Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Triplett of Moneta, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Summerbell of Dickens, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at the family home in the east addition of Sutherland, Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Thos. Batho, Pastor of the Methodist Church. The music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bruner. Interment was made beside the husband of the deceased in the Afton township cemetery in Cherokee County, Iowa.
