Description	:	Adin was a son of Ambrose and Esther Hyde Doolittle. He was one of nine children. The others were; Adaline (1843 -1883), Naoma (1816-1877), Marquis (1818-1821), Thankful (1820-1843), Dewey (1829-1891), Mary Francis (1831-d.1896? or 1905?), and Esther (1834- ?). Adin was raised in the Hampton Corners (Hampton) NY area on the border with Vermont. In 1842, when he was 19, the family relocated to Eagle, in Wyoming county, NY. ( SE of Buffalo). He married Caroline Parrey, from nearby Wethersfield Springs, on April 22, 1845. They along with a brother Socrates, soon moved to Janesville and then Monroe, in Green County, Wisconsin. By the 1855 state census, Adin and his family had moved to nearby Albany, WI. In 1868, Adin moved his family by covered wagon to Cass township, in Hamilton County, IA., where he had purchased 160 acres of wild land the previous year. Adin & Caroline had eight children including Inez (1850), John M. (1851), James E. (1855), A. Janette (1857), Alma A. (1861), Carrie M. (1863), William W. (1865), and Harry M. (1872). Adin was united with the Christian church at Cass Center on Feb. 10, 1889. On the day of his death, the local paper announced " Another of The Pioneers Is Gone". Adin is buried next to wife Caroline on one side, and his mother Esther Hyde Doolittle on the other side. Their stones are both identified as mother and his as father.
