Abbott, 50, well known gardener and trucker in Nebraska City, Nebraska, died from a bullet in his brain early Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital. Abbott, 50, well known gardener and trucker in Nebraska City, Nebraska, died from a bullet in his brain early Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Hospital. His sons, Donald, 21, and Tommy, 17, held for questioning until Wednesday morning, said that they and their father and an uncle Pete Abbott visited the Central Bar Thursday Night. An argument occurred between Pete and Adrian, and one of the sons took his uncles's side in the argument, calling his father a liar. Abbott drove home in his truck and the two boys walked home. After they entered the house about 11:30 P.M., they said the argument continued. After Abbott asked his son if he still thought he was a liar and his son said he did, Abbott pulled a 33 caliber revolver from his pocket, held it to his temple and pulled the trigger. The revolver usually was kept in a table drawer, the boys said. Abbott died in the hospital about 3 A.M. Abbott's wife was burned to death when their home was destroyed by fire about five years ago. Surviving are nine children, Darold, Thomas, Vernus, 18, Larry, 7, and Guy, 9, at home, Martin 33, Nebraska City, Nebraska, Gene in the Air Corps in Texas. Mrs. Lola Barrett and Mrs. Wanda Barrett, Nebraska City, Nebraska. Also surviving are two brothers, Pete, Nebraska City, Nebraska, Albert, last known address was Malvern, Iowa, and Mrs. Melvin Cohn, Imogene, Iowa, and Jane Brown, Nebraska City, sisters. Also his mother, Mrs. Fanny Abbott of Nebraska City, Nebraska. Mr. Abbott was born August 3, 1899, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rastus Abbott, at Imogene, Iowa. He was married July 10, 1921 at Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa to Nora Jones.  Mr. Abbott was a member of the Eagles Lodge. The body is at the Porter Funeral Home.
