Description	:	Adams County Free Press March 12, 1921 A. H. Hoyt of Douglas township passed away February 24 at his residence following a long illness. He had consulted various eminent specialists in regard to his health, but evidently nothing could be done to stay off the malady with which he was afflicted. His sufferings were intense during the months preceding his death and his going was but a welcome release. He had consulted various eminent specialists in regard to his health, but evidently nothing could be done to stay off the malady with which he was afflicted. His sufferings were intense during the months preceding his death and his going was but a welcome release. The funeral was held the following Saturday, a short service being held at the home, conducted by Rev. E. T. Lundy of Strand, the funeral proper being held at the Baptist church at Cumberland, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. J. Sigler. Interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery at Cumberland. Alanson Harvey Hoyt was born in Mason county, Illinois July 21, 1864 and was aged 56 years, 7 months, and 3 days. When a year and a half old he was brought by his parents who located on a farm two miles southwest of Cumberland where he resided about fifty years. Six years ago he removed two miles south of the city and last year removed to this county on a farm in Douglas township. He was married to Miss Mary A. DeVault October 3, 1896 and to them one daughter and eight sons were born. They are Ethel M., Roy H., Raymond A., Cecil C., Bernard H. Clifford V., Ralph A., Floyd L., Forest T., all of whom with their mother survive him. Also two brothers and two sisters: James M. and Rense T., Mrs. Eliza Miller of Prescott and Mrs. Sarah Hebing of Cumberland. Deceased was a member of the Baptist church of Cumberland uniting when W. A. Sunday led a revival in that city in 1902 and remained a faithful member until claimed by death.
