Devericks, who died very suddenly at his home near Headwaters on last Thursday afternoon, Jan. 14th. Read More	Highland Recorder January 22, 1932 DEATH Of PROMINENT CITIZEN The Recorder regrets to announce the death of one of Highland’s most, highly respected citizens of Eastern part of the county, Mr. A.B. Devericks, who died very suddenly at his home near Headwaters on last Thursday afternoon, Jan. 14th. His health had not been so good since a recent illness several months ago and from which he had not entirely recovered. Mr. Devericks was born in 1867, the son of the late Thomas M. Devericks, and married Sarah J. Neil in 1890. Strange as it may seem, we were printing the memorial list among which was the death of Mr. Devericks’ wife, just as we learned of the decease of the above. The deceased was a successful farmer and cattle dealer and had proven himself a courteous, honest and upright citizen of the highest integrity. He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Headwaters. Mr. Devericks is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ollie Rexrode, Mrs. Blanche Neil, and Mrs. Margaret Maupin; two sons, Elliot C. Devericks, McDowell, and Thomas Devericks, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Armstrong, Charlottesville; Mrs. Nona Huffman, of Headwaters and Mrs. Jas. W. Ervine, Headwaters; fourteen grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. The funeral service was conducted from the Presbyterian church, Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. L.M. Moffett of McDowell Presbyterian church officiated. Burial took place in the Headwaters cemetery. Staunton Spectator & Vindicator February 11, 1897 A. B. Devericks has removed from Way Cross, Highland county to Stuart's Draft in this county. We are glad to welcome Mr. Devericks to Augusta.
