Read More	Orangeville Banner, June 12, 1913, page 3 - Edward Moffitt Dead Mr. Edward Moffitt, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moffitt, of Glencross, died in Grace Hospital, Toronto, late on Sunday afternoon after a long and trying illness. Deceased, who had been in poor health since last autumn, was operated on for appendicitis nine weeks ago last Saturday. The operation did not prove as successful as expected and it was found necessary to operate again about four weeks ago. The patient failed to rally satisfactorily, and it was soon recognized that his case was hopeless. Nurses were in constant attendance day and night and everything possible was done to save his life, but unfortunately without avail. Mr. Moffitt learned the wood working trade with Mr. T. G. Porter some years ago and was well and favorably known in and about Orangeville. Since going to Toronto he has been in the employ of the T. Eaton Co., and was in charge of the machines in their harness department when overtaken by his fatal illness. He was 33 years of age and leaves a widow (formerly Minnie Pickering, of Orangeville), and a little daughter. He is also survived by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. The brothers and sisters are Mr. T. H. Moffitt, Reeve of Mono, Messrs. John and Andrew Moffitt, Mrs. John Hewitt and Mrs. S. Roney, all of Mono. The sorrowing widow and relatives have the sympathy of the community in their time of trouble. The remains were brought to his old home for burial, the funeral taking place from the home of his parents to St. John’s Church Cemetery, 7th Line, east, Mono, on Tuesday afternoon. The pallbearers were Messrs. Kerr and Ross, Alex. Moffatt, Mr. Sheepways and Mr. Robt. Wright, of Toronto, and Mr. Rueben Moffitt, of Mono. Among the floral offerings were wreaths from the T. Eaton Co. employees and the members of Canada Lodge, No. 49, I.O.O.F., a pillar from the parents and family, an anchor from Mr. and Mrs. Sheepways, a heart from the widow, anchor from Mr. and Mrs. Harris Woods, and sprays from Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. J. Armstrong, Miss Hunter and Mrs. Marshall. Revs. G. A. Rix and R. J. W. Perry were the officiating clergymen. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moffitt of Mono and was 33 years of age. Several years ago he carried on a carriage repairing business in Orangeville, but has been residing at Toronto for some time. He leaves a widow and a four year old child, three brothers and two sisters, Mrs. John Hewitt and Mrs. Samuel Roney of Mono to mourn his demise. The remains were brought to town Monday and the funeral took place to St. John’s church cemetery Mono, on Tuesday and was largely attended. The pallbearers were Messrs. Kerr, Ross, Sheepways and Wright of Toronto, Alex Moffitt and Master Rheuben Moffitt. Among the floral tributes were wreaths from the T.
