Read More	Orangeville Banner, February 15, 1945, page 10 - John Moffatt John Moffatt, a lifelong resident of Mono township, passed away at his home on lot 12, 6th line, east, Mono, on Monday, February 5th, in his 73rd year. His death came after a long illness, which had confined him to his house and bed for eight years. Mr. Moffatt was a son of Henry Moffatt and Eliza Buchanan and was born on lot 12, 4th line, Mono. He moved to the 6th line farm between 45 and 50 years ago. He was twice married, his first wife, the former Mary Jane White, predeceasing him in 1915. Later he married Miss Ellen Clowes, who survives, with a family of three sons, Edmond, Toronto, Henry, Orangeville, and William, Toronto, by the first marriage and a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Sherman Scott (Mary), of Toronto, and Donald and Bert at home, by the second. Ex-Reeve Thos. H. Moffatt and Mrs. Samuel Roney, both of Glencross, are brother and sister. Mr. Moffatt was a quiet, industrious man, deeply attached to his home and fond of farm life and the farm environment. Progressive and enterprising, he had business interests apart from his farm and may be said to have pioneered the way in summer cottage building along the Hockley Valley. He was a member of the Anglican church and a Conservative. Rev. H. N. Bracken, of Hockley, was in charge of the funeral service in Darraugh's Funeral Home, Mill St., on Wednesday afternoon, February 7th. The pallbearers were the five sons and his son-in-law. A number of lovely floral tributes were carried by Shirley and Russell Moffatt. Interment was made in the Forest Lawn Mortuary, where the remains will rest until spring, when they will be removed to the family plot in St. John's cemetery, 7th Line, Mono.
