Description	:	Albert Klingman ELGIN (special)--Albert Klingman, third child of Martin Jr. and Laura Johnson Klingman, was born on March 12, 1879, at Highland, Clayton County, Iowa. He attended the local schools and farmed until he was 24 years of age. In 1910 he moved to Timber Lake, South Dakota, and in 1911, he obtained a homestead of 160 acres from the Sioux Indian Standing Rock Lands. Read More	Albert Klingman ELGIN (special)--Albert Klingman, third child of Martin Jr. and Laura Johnson Klingman, was born on March 12, 1879, at Highland, Clayton County, Iowa. He attended the local schools and farmed until he was 24 years of age. In 1910 he moved to Timber Lake, South Dakota, and in 1911, he obtained a homestead of 160 acres from the Sioux Indian Standing Rock Lands. There on this homestead he built a cabin which later became the Methodist Church and grounds. Thirteen years later, he moved back to Iowa, living in Volga and Elgin. The last five years he has lived at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. He was a member of the Illyria Community Church, the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Gleaners. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, one brother, Charles Martin; two sisters, Alice Yearous and Nora Ripke; * and eight nieces and nephews. He is survived by many friends and relatives. Burial services were held at Illyria Church, Friday, Aug. 28, 1970, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Delbert Dawes officiating. Mrs. Floyd Frieden and Mrs. Paul Smith furnished music, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Duane Strong. Casket bearers were LeRoy Klingman, Glenn Yearous, Clarence Thoman, Thomas Foxwell, William Morre, and Charles Wenger. (Obit in the Oelwein Daily Register, Sept. 8, 1970, page 12) *A correction was printed in the Elgin newspaper, on Sept. 10, 1970, saying the obit should have read "Survivors include one brother Willard. Also nieces and nephews. and other relatives"
