He was a carpenter, painter, and farmer. Dec 24, 1936 - Carroll Daily Herald - Albert H Graham died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on East 6th street late Wednesday afternoon. Mr Graham had been down town in the morning, attending to business matters in different places. He was feeling fine at that time and joked and visited with his friends. About 11 o'clock he went to the W.T. Otto elevator and while there fell in a dizzy spell. He was taken home and a doctor was summoned. An examination showed that his heart and pulse were good and it was thought he possibly had an attack of indigestion. The doctor having advised him to remain quiet, Mr. Graham laid down in the living room. He spoke of pain in his chest, but he did not seem to feel very ill, and only 20 minutes before he passed away he walked to the kitchen. After returning to the living room, he talked to his sisters, conversing with them only three minutes before he passed away. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Huffman Funeral home, with Rev. Wayne Overholser, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Glidden, officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll cemetery. Mr Graham, the son of J.B. and Jane Graham, was born in Ontario, Canada. He was about three years old when his parents came to Carroll county to make their home on a farm three miles south of Carroll. A few years after coming to this county his mother died, her death occurring May 6, 1877. The family continued to live on the farm for many years before moving to Carroll, where the home has since been maintained. After completing the rural school in his district, Mr. Graham attended the Carroll Normal school which stood in the northwest part of Carroll. He then took up carpenter work and painting which, coupled with farming, he followed as his occupation. For several years he was employed at the Senter Variety store, subsequently the F&R store, after which he resumed his carpenter and painting work. Aside from the three years that he farmed with his brother, Robert Graham, at Harrington, Neb. Mr Graham has always lived in or near Carroll since coming here with his parent's from Canada. He spent a number of years at Hartington but not all during the same period, as he went back and forth at intervals. Since the death of his father, he has lived in Carroll he and his sisters, Misses Adelaide and Mary Graham, residing together in their home on East Sixth street. Mr. Graham joined the Presbyterian church in early boyhood, later transferring to the Congregational church. He was prominent in Odd Fellow work. He belonged to every organization of the fraternity in Carroll, including Carroll lodge No. 279 I.O.O.F., Ellsworth encampment No. 72 Carroll Canton No. 15 and Central Rebekah Lodge No. 191. He had a remarkable memory and knew the secret work in every degree of the four organizations, word for word. He passed through all the chairs of Carroll Lodge No. 279 and Ellsworth Encampment No. 72, having served both bodies in their highest offices, Noble Grand and Patriarch respectively. Mr. Graham was one of a family of nine children. Survivors include six sisters and two brothers: Mrs. W.A. McKenzie, Gagetown, Mich.; Miss Adelaide Graham, Carroll; Robert Graham, Hartington, Neb.; Miss Euphemia Graham, Carroll; Mrs. Cord Juergens of Glidden, who is wintering in Corpus Christi, Tex.; Miss Mary Graham; Arthur Graham of Gilbert; and Mrs. Ida Daugherty of Odebolt. His mother died May 6, 1877, and his father, Nov. 14, 1917. Arthur Graham of Gilbert and Mrs. Ida Daugherty and E.J. Daugherty of Odebolt came here Wednesday afternoon upon receiving word of Mr. Graham's death.
