Mrs. Daugherty was well known throughout this vicinity, and particularly for her gift of all the ground embraced in the Carroll city park. This land was given by her to the city for park purposes in honor of her father, James H. Graham, an early day settler here. The park carries the name of "Graham." With the exception of 12 years in Odebolt, Mrs Daugherty was a life long resident of Carroll county where she was born Jan 6, 1877. At the time of her death she was president of the Ladies auxiliary of Carroll Canton No. 15 of Patriarchs Militant. Mrs. Daugherty leaves one sister, Miss Euphemia Graham, and one brother, Arthur J. Graham, both of Carroll. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Ed J. and Algie Daugherty, whom is she reared from childhood. Mrs. Daugherty, who had been in declining health the past six months, had been seriously ill the last 10 days. June 1, 1967 - Carroll Daily Times Herald - Presentation of Mary Graham's 1902 eighth grade diploma and a school bell to be placed in the "little red school house" in Graham Park has been made to the Kiwanis Club by members of the E.J. Daugherty family. The gift was announced by Alfred Meyers, a member, to the club at the Wednesday night meeting at the Pin Oaks, and was given to the club president, Dr. Rex Heese. It was Mary Graham's sister, the late Mrs. Ida Graham Daugherty, who gave Graham Park to the City of Carroll about 45 years ago, so that children could have a place to play and adults a place for recreation and relaxation. E.J. Daugherty went to live with his older brother, William Daugherty, and his wife, known for many years as Ida G. Daugherty, in 1903. He continued to live with the Graham family for many years. The Graham sisters were daughters of the late J.B. Graham, a member of the Carroll County Board of Supervisors at the time the old court house was built in the mid-1880's. The Graham mementoes have been kept since then by Mr. Daugherty, who lives at 439 E. 6th St.
