Died, Sunday, May 1, 1904, at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City, of injuries received in a runaway about four week sago, Albert Kapfer, aged 73 years and four months. Mr. Kapfer was born in France in January 1831, and came to this country in his early manhood. He first settled in Wisconsin, where, in 1852, he was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Mitz. Died, Sunday, May 1, 1904, at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City, of injuries received in a runaway about four week sago, Albert Kapfer, aged 73 years and four months. Mr. Kapfer was born in France in January 1831, and came to this country in his early manhood. He first settled in Wisconsin, where, in 1852, he was united in marriage to Miss Lizzie Mitz. From Wisconsin he moved to Minnesota where he engaged in the mercantile business for about eight years, going from there to Kansas, where he following the same business for two years. In 1872 he came to Union county and settled on a farm and has lived there ever since. Thirteen children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kapfer, three of whom, with their mother who died in 1886, having preceded their father to the Great Beyond. Of the remaining ten, John and Fred live at Minnesota Lake, Minn.; Michael, George and William in Sioux Valley township this county; Mrs. W. R. Truman and Mrs. Will Manning near Akron, Iowa; Mrs. P. Curry and Mrs. Dan Ryan in Elk Point and Mrs. B.F. Bates at Olin, Iowa. Mr. Kapfer was injured about four weeks ago by a runaway team and was later taken to St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City for treatment. For some time hope was entertained that he would rally but his advanced age made recovery impossible, The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. The funeral was held from the Catholic Church at Akron at 11 o'clock Tuesday, May 3, Rev. Father Sullivan officiating, and in the presence of many of his old neighbors and friends the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery at that place."
