He was born in Naldengen, Belgium, on Aug. 8, 1912, the son of Rene and Nathalie Grammens. He came to America in 1919 with his mother to be reunited with his father, who had come to America in 1913 to serve with the Army. The family settled in Huntley, MT., where Albert started first grade. Then they moved to Custer- Waco, MT., area where Albert continued his schooling at the Waco Country School. He farmed with his father on the family farm. On April 19, 1947, Albert married Esther Chelberg in Custer, MT. Together they farmed at Big Horn, MT., until 1960, when they purchased a farm in Powell, WY. Albert retired in 1972 due to ill health. In 1988, he and Esther moved to Billings, MT. After retirement, Albert and Esther traveled extensively and spent the last 22 winters in Mexico and Arizona. Albert loved the outdoors and enjoyed home improvements projects. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Wyoming Farm Bureau and A.A.R.P. He is survived by his wife, Esther of Billings; one daughter, Patricia and her husband Kenneth Warner of Seattle, WA.; four brothers, Paul and his wife, Birdie Grammens of Billings, Morris and his wife Mildred Grammens of Powell, WY., Robert and his wife, Marian Grammens of Custer, MT., and Edward and his wife, Rose Grammens also of Custer; a sister-in-law, Maggie and her husband, Paul Creek of Billings; and one granddaughter, Darcy Andrea Dixon, a student at the University of Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and a brother Frank Grammens. Vigil services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church Rite of committal will be in Custer Cemetery in Custer, MT. Memorials may be made to the Montana Lung Association, Helena, MT. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
