Alberta, a proud Irish girl from ‘Southie’ met a charming salesman from Mundleville , Kent County, New Brunswick, on a beach in Boston and there began her adventure. After a grand tour of the Maritime provinces and the New England States operating Airway Sanitizer offices with Frank, they settled in Mundleville. There they were proud to have welcomed folks from all over Canada and the United States to Frankie’s Dance Hall (The New Country Club) on Wednesday and Saturday nights to square dance for over 25 years. Chief Albert Levi, The Beast and many others would draw crowds of wrestling fans to The Hall as would music acts like the Bunkhouse Boys. She always provided an attentive ear and hot dogs for all. She was a vital part (She feed them and looked after the money) of a troupe of wonderful musicians (David Harnett, Matilda Murdoch, Bud Roberts, to name just a few). They would travel the province putting on Country Music shows. After a while in Needham, Massachusett, the family returned to Mundleville. She went to work as a secretary/bookkeeper at the United Maritime Fisherman Freezer in Richibucto, where she felt so fortunate to have become part of that extended family. She served two terms on the District 11 School Board before becoming Chairperson. Her attentiveness to and passion for student issues led her to the Presidency of the New Brunswick School Trustees Association. She used this opportunity to bring ideas to New Brunswick from other jurisdictions and was a cheerleader for New Brunswick kids and their teachers on stages throughout Canada and the USA. For several years she was Secretary-Treasurer of the Moncton Easter Beef Show and Sale, later becoming President. And, she found time to dabble in all levels of politics for over 50 years. Alberta will be sadly missed by her two sons, Stephen Robertson (Lisa) of Rexton; Dwight Robertson (Carol) of Riverview and the five grandchildren who she loved so deeply and of whom she was so proud, Jeffrey, Dawn, Holli, Tyler and Chase. She was also survived by one sister, Penelope Purcell (Joel) of Boynton Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, G. Frank Robertson and one sister, Priscilla. The family would like to extend a most heartfelt thank you to Dr. Melanie Arsenault for her consistent care and compassion toward Mom for many years. And to the staff of the Extramural Hospital Kent each and every one of you were simply angels through her illness. Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 9 to 11 am. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm, St. Andrew’s United Church, Rexton. Donations in Alberta’s memory may be made to the Rexton Elementary School Gym, Drama Club or Robren House and would be appreciated by the family.
