Fate seems to hover over the sweetest blossoms and Father Time always seems to pluck the fairest and most tender buds almost before they bloom and so it was with sweet, lovely Blanche, whom to know was but to love. Her calm and resigned nature was exhibited to the very close of life and a few moments before her departure for the heavenly climes, she took her doting parents and other friends to her arms for a final farewell, and as she presssed the kiss of earthly affection upon their lips, she opened her eyes upon the outstretched arms of Christ's kingdom welcoming her. *** OBITUARY Walker DIED - at the home of her parents, of peritonitus, Blanche, the 12 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Walker of Rhodes Saturday Nov. 21st, 1896. Funeral services were held at the home Monday, Rev. Ferguson of Maxwell officiating, and the remains laid in Hillside cemetery. Blanche was a bright girl of unusual accomplishments and of a happy, cheerful disposition. Her illness and taking away has removed a free and cheerful heart from Rhodes. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all. *** Miss Blanche Walker died at her home near Rhodes, on Saturday, Nov. 21, age 12 yrs, 7 mos, and 3 days. The funeral was largely attended by sympathetic friends, among whom were her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Sutter, and daughter, Miss Hattie, of this place, and fifty of her schoolmates. The funeral obsequies were conducted by Rev. Gibson of Maxwell, and six of her little boy schoolmates acted as pall bearers. After the last sad rites had been paid and the body viewed by sorrowing friends, it was tenderly laid to rest in the Brethren cemtery six miles northeast of Rhodes. In such a death we are always reminded of the sacred words of our blessed Redeemer, "Suffer little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." - Maxwell Tribune.
