Description	:	Alex Hume, son of Robert and Mary Ann Hume, was born April 17, 1874 at Stanton, Nebraska and passed away January 24, 1952 at the Lynch Hospital at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 7 days. He moved from Stanton to Hartington, Nebraska in 1895, where he met and married Lorena Jane Sinclair. In the spring of 1897, the young couple moved to Boyd County to a homestead at Gross, Nebraska. Nine children were born during this marriage, one child died in infancy and 2 others, Elsie & Merle, died as adults. In 1946, he moved from his farm at Gross to Spencer where he was living at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Lorena, sons Wilbur of Gross, Tom of Tekamah, Leo of Omaha, Harold "Babe" of Spencer and daughters, Mildred White and Ethel Collins of Lincoln. Also, two sisters, Margaret Van Ness of Stanton and Josephine Jarland of Tekamah and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 28th at the Spencer Methodist Church with burial in the Gross Cemetery. Taken from the newspaper clipping.
