Description	:	Alfred Labounty Gharring, second son of Leonard and Flevie Labounty Gharring, was born on a farm northwest of Nelson, September 13, 1896, and passed away at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital Sunday afternoon, January 3, 1988, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 20 days. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1916 with 15 call members and attended the college in Nelson for two years. January 14, 1920, he was united in marriage to Aletha Golda Morehea in Hastings. Read More	Alfred Labounty Gharring, second son of Leonard and Flevie Labounty Gharring, was born on a farm northwest of Nelson, September 13, 1896, and passed away at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital Sunday afternoon, January 3, 1988, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 20 days. He graduated from Nelson High School in 1916 with 15 call members and attended the college in Nelson for two years. January 14, 1920, he was united in marriage to Aletha Golda Morehea in Hastings. To this union a daughter, Wanda, and a son, Ivan, were born. They farmed north of Nelson for 28 before building their home in Nelson in 1958. They spent 20 winters in Santa Cruz, California, enjoying their travels, family visits and football. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, an older brother, Earl of Nelson and a younger brother, Otis of Bountiful, Utah, and a great granddaughter. Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Schultz, and his son, Ivan, and wife, Verleen, all of Nelson; one brother, Clarence Gharring, and wife, Bernice, of Nampa, Idaho; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Emma Gharring of Hastings; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Alfred had unending patience and tender loving care during Aletha's illness and during the 26 years his mother-in-law, Nona Morehead, made her home with them. Any handicaps were overcome by Alfred's determination, will and hard work through the years on the farm; and the pride he showed in their home. He was a devoted dad and grandfather and will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 5, at 11 a.m. in the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, with the Reverend Steven Tjarks officiating. Myrtle Worley was organist, playing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow". Casketbearers were Jerry Drohman, Kirby Adamson, Travis Piper, Bill Piper, Doug Nielsen and Bill Morehead. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of all arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, January 7, 1988; pg. 2
