Denison Review - Wednesday , September 23rd, 1931 - Kiron - A gloom went over the entire community Saturday morning when the message was spread that Mr. Alfred O. Larson had suddenly passed away at his home one mile east and one-half mile south of Kiron shortly before midnight on Friday evening. Alfred had been about his usual tasks on Friday and in the same cheerful mood that he was always found in. He had enjoyed hearty meals the same as usual. During the evening he did some reading and retired at about his usual bedtime. When Mrs. Larson retired she noticed he was breathing heavily. She was unable to arouse him and went to the telephone and summoned Dr. Garner but before he reached him, he had passed away. Alfred Orlander Larson was the son of Chas. and Ereka Larson, the father having gone on before. He was born on the Larson homestead (now occupied by Raymond Larson), just across the road where he now resided, on December 9, 1885, and passed away at his home on Sept. 18, 1931, at the age of 45 years, 9 months and 9 days. His entire life had been spent on the home place and the place where he now resided. He went through the public schools here and from the time of his boyhood days he has always been liked by everybody who knew him. He was highly respected for his square dealings, his high ideals and interest in the social welfare of the community. His life was one of ambition. Ho took great interest in his work about the farm. He was a neighbor who was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He was united in marriage to Maude Telgren on October 18, 1911. He was a faithful and loving mate to his devoted wife and their wedded life was one of harmony and bliss. Besides his grief stricken wife, he is mourned by his loving mother Mrs. Ereka Larson, five sisters, Mrs. Alma Schrieber, Mrs. Lulu Nelson, Mrs. Etta Johnson, Mrs. Edna Mauritz, all of Kiron, and Mrs. Lillie Morgan of Omaha, and three brothers, Russell, Erland and Lafe, all of Kiron. Two brothers having preceded him in death, Eldred and one in infancy. Thus has gone out from among us a life of love and service to his eternal rest. He also leaves a large circle of relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at 2:00 o'clock from the Free Mission church, conducted by Rev. H.A. Faugerstrom, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Gordon Carlson, pastor of the Baptist church. Beautiful floral offerings were banked about the remains, showing deep love and respect for the departed. Special singing was rendered. He was carried to his last resting place by six of his friends and school mates, namely, Walter, Ruben and Arthur Buller, Raymond Larson, Arthur Jacobson and George Johnson. Interment was made in the Community cemetery. Relatives and friends from many distances attended the funeral.
