Following the service the remains were interred in the South Marion cemetery, the casketbearers being Frank Poulson, Ivan Poulson, Lester Poulson, Furman Swanson, all of whom are nephews of the deceased, Durrell Kelley and Rudy Hubner. Alfred Poulson, for many years a resident of Stratford and community, died in the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. P.H. Shambaugh, in Des Moines Saturday. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born in Wapello county, Oct. 12, 1860 and was 81 years, 2 months, 15 days old at his death. When he was 5 years old he moved with is parents to the then Poulson farm, 11 miles west of Stratford. He attended the rural schools and grew to young manhood there. On Feb. 28, 1888, he was married to Miss Anna Louise Johnson and some time later they moved to their own farm about a mile south of the Poulson homestead. There two daughters were born to them, Vera Hubner, who preceded her father in death, and Mrs. Georgette Shaeffer, of Des Moines. Surviving are his wife, the only daughter, Mrs. Shaeffer, and two grandchildren, Mrs. Shambaugh, and Leo E. Hubner, of Fort Bragg, N.C. Surviving also are two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Emma Swanson, Miss Julia Poulson and Albert Poulson, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. After retiring form active farming a few years ago, Mr. Poulson purchased a property in Stratford and lived there until November, 1940, when he went to Des Moines to make his home with his granddaughter because of advacing age and failing health. During the years he was on the farm he was known as a hard worker and able to get the most out of his farm.
