She was united in marriage to John Poulson in April, 1854, in Van Buren county, residing there until 1895, when they moved to Webster county, and later to Stratford, where she resided until called home by her Master. Read More	Stratford Courier February 23, 1905 Obituary Poulson Marie Poulson was born in Sweden March 12, 1825 and died at Stratford February 15, 1905, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 3 days. She was united in marriage to John Poulson in April, 1854, in Van Buren county, residing there until 1895, when they moved to Webster county, and later to Stratford, where she resided until called home by her Master. Eight children, all of whom are living, twenty-nine grandchildren and a host of friends are left to mourn her demise. Deceased had been a sufferer for many years bearing her troubles patiently and with the patient endurance for which she was known. The funeral was held from the house at 1 o'clock and from the church at 1:30, Saturday, Revs. Benjamin and Linn conducting the services. The remains were laid to rest in the Oakwood cemetery. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Marie was born Maria Jaensdotter (Jonsdotter/Johnson) on April 15, 1826 in Dalhem, Östergötland/Kalmar, Sweden, the daughter of Jaen Andersson and Stina Sophia Hellgren. Her birth date is misrecorded in the obituary which is not unusual. Many times the pastor would write obituaries and many dates were misrecorded throughout the years. Her mother also died the same year she was born so it could also have been misremembered by family members. She was married to Peter Magnus Månsson/Monson on Nov. 7, 1846 in Oppeby, Sweden. They were the parents of one daughter who was born and died in Sweden and a son, William Monson Poulson who was born in Iowa. Peter and Maria emigrated to America in 1849, arriving in New York on Aug. 24, 1849 aboard the vessel "Virginia," along with many other Swedes from their home parish and others from Östergötland. In 1850, Marie and William are listed as living in Chequest Township, Van Buren County, Iowa, and Peter is listed as living in Village Township, Van Buren County, Iowa, along with the other Swedish immigrant males, working as carpenters and laborers. They are also listed there in 1852. Maria married a second time in the spring of 1854 to John Poulson. Supposedly, Peter died in St. Louis, likely between 1852 to 1854.
