Teller He Passed Away Thursday, Oct. 12, After Illness of Three Months Alfred Zelotes Teller, a resident of Butler county, near Bellwood, for 53 years, passed away at his home at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Oct. 12, after an illness of three months. During the first part of his illness he was in the David City hospital for a time, going to his home a few weeks ago. He was in his 57th year. A son of Pierre and Avis Teller, he was born at Quincy, Ill., on February 24, 1866. When he was three years of age his parents came to Nebraska and Butler county, locating in the neighborhood where Mr. Teller had since resided. Mr. Teller was united in marriage to Miss Effie Ada Butler at David City September 7, 1896. To them were born two children, Avis Jane, who died at birth, and Virgil Alfred, now 11 years of age. They also took into their home a baby girl, Arla Louise, now Mrs. Rudolph Meyerhofff, living near Bellwood. Besides Mrs. Teller and son and foster daughter, there survive Mr. Teller one brother, Maitland C. Teller of Edholm, two sisters, Miss Emma Teller of Omaha and Mrs. Lydia O'Neil of Irwin, and a little granddaughter, Dora Effie Meyerhoff. Funeral services were held in the Edholm church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, conducted by Rev. Henry Zinnecker, pastor of the Methodist church at North Bend, a former pastor of the Bellwood and Savannah Methodist churches, Mr. Teller united with the latter church in 1903. Four hymns, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Sometime We'll Understand," "Rock of Ages" and "Shall We Meet?" were sung by Mrs. George Vanderkolk, Mrs. Floyd Davenport, Chris Black and Clyde Whitmore, with Mrs. Clyde Whitmore pianist. Frank Davenport, Everett Earl, Ben Eberly, Jacob Miller, Oscar Pace and John Vandermuelen were the pallbearers. Interment was in the Edholm cemetery. In attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Miss Emma Teller of Omaha, Mrs. Clara Haynes of Grand Island, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Butler of York, Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Myers and children and William Robertson of Fremont, Mrs. Howard Smith of Chadron and Mrs. Walter Seidel of Burke, S. Dak. Mr. Teller was a jovial, big-hearted man who always saw the humorous side of things and enjoyed life to the utmost, ever ready to do a kindly act or help anyone in need, a good neighbor and with many friends. He was an industrious farmer and prospered as result of his toil. Devoted to his family, he was ever planning for their welfare and happiness. Teller After a lingering illness of the past three months, death came to Mr. Alfred Z. Teller of near Bellwood at 4 p.m. last Thursday, October 12. Mr. Teller will be missed deeply in his home and among his friends and neighbors. He has been a patient sufferer for the past three months from an unknown cause. All that human hands could do has been done for this loving husband and father but he passed away at the age of 56 years, 7 months and 18 days in spite of their tender care. Mr. Teller has always been an honest farmer and since his marriage in 1896 to Miss Effie A. Butler, has resided on the valley near Bellwood, where he spent his life in honest, hard labor. He, with his wife, reared two children, Virgil Teller and Mrs. Aria Meyerhoff, both residing at home with their mother. Mr. Teller leaves to survive him his two children and wife, also a brother Maitland, living near Edholm, two sisters, Miss Emma Teller, of Omaha, and Mrs. John O'Neil of Irwin, Neb. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m., from the Edholm church, the Rev. Henry Zennicker of North Bend having charge of the funeral. Pall bearers were Mr. Everet Earl, Ben Eberly, Oscar Pace, Jake Miller, Frank Davenport, John Vandermullen. Interment was in the Edholm cemetery.
