She died from lung trouble which had afflicted her for a number of years. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Scamahorn from the M.E. church on Saturday, January 25th at 2 p.m. Avis Ann Cornell was born at Glenville, Schenectady county, New York, on October 11, 1836, and was the second child in a family of six children, the other five of which are still living, Her parents were well fixed financially enabling her to receive a good education. At the age of 16 she joined the Methodist church, to which Christian faith she clung throughout life. In 1861 Miss Cornell and Mr. Pierre Teller were united in marriage at Glenville, from which place they soon went to Quincy, Illinois. They afterwards lived in Iowa, again in New York, and came to Butler county, Nebraska in 1871. In 1891 a move was made to Sheridan county where residence was taken up on a homestead about 5 miles southeast of Rushville. About five years ago Mr. Teller deserted his family. Just about a year ago Mrs. Teller with her youngest son, Lyman, now 17 years of age, came to Gordon to live. The children of the Teller family were nine in number, two having died. The living are as follows: Mrs. Frank Border of Ruthford, Montana; Mrs. J.F. O'Neil, of Gordon, Nebraska; Mrs. George Owens, of Rushville, Nebraska; Emma Teller, now in Lincoln, Nebraska; two sons in Butler county, Nebraska; and Lyman Teller now at this place. Pierre Teller was a near relative of senator Teller of Colorado. Mrs. Teller had not since coming to Gordon, been favored with good health and seemed willing to go where disease and sorrows are not known. The relatives of the deceased have requested the writer to extend their heart felt thanks to those who rendered aid and kindness in the sad hours attending her sickness, death and burial.
