Description	:	Alice C. Tollefson, 84, of Saco, died May 11, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in Malta, MT, of natural causes. Alice was born March 23, 1917, in St. Paul, MN, daughter of Charles F. and Anna (Houska) Kegal. She was raised on the family farm southeast of Turner. Alice graduated from Turner High School and went to Teachers College at Northern Montana College. She taught one year at Turner and then rode the Galloping Goose to Whitewater where she taught at New Deal up by Forks community. She later taught at Central School and Hilltop School. ... Read More	Alice C. Tollefson, 84, of Saco, died May 11, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Center in Malta, MT, of natural causes. Alice was born March 23, 1917, in St. Paul, MN, daughter of Charles F. and Anna (Houska) Kegal. She was raised on the family farm southeast of Turner. Alice graduated from Turner High School and went to Teachers College at Northern Montana College. She taught one year at Turner and then rode the Galloping Goose to Whitewater where she taught at New Deal up by Forks community. She later taught at Central School and Hilltop School. On Jan. 8, 1938, Alice married Oliver Tollefson in Saco. They lived on the Tollefson farm until Dec. 1993 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Malta. She wrote the South Plains News which was published in the Saco Independent and Phillips County News for over 30 years. Alice was a founding leader of the Turkey Track 4-H Club and kept a history of North Country events which is still being maintained. She was avid at crossword puzzles, president of the Lutheran Ladies Aid at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, was a great cook and enjoyed baking bread and pies. Survivors include her husband, Oliver Tollefson of Saco; son Rocky Tollefson of Malta; daughters, Gloria Jane Hartman of Great Falls, Allie E. Hammond of Saco; nine grandchildren. Funeral services at Saco Lutheran Church. Burial in Reitan Cemetery, north of Saco.
