Butler was born at Bloomington Nebraska, January 6, 1875 and departed this life May 5, 1926, aged 51 years, three months and 21 days. On November 20, 1898, she was married to Frank Shaffer at Norcator, Kansas.To this union three children were born, Jennie, Butler and Marvin. She was converted when about fourteen years of age and joined the Christian Church. Removing to Decator County, Kansas she became a member of the Methodist Church. Butler was born at Bloomington Nebraska, January 6, 1875 and departed this life May 5, 1926, aged 51 years, three months and 21 days. On November 20, 1898, she was married to Frank Shaffer at Norcator, Kansas.To this union three children were born, Jennie, Butler and Marvin. She was converted when about fourteen years of age and joined the Christian Church. Removing to Decator County, Kansas she became a member of the Methodist Church. When she removed to Alma she united with the Congregational Church and was a faithful member at the time of her death. For the first time in history of Alma, so far as the Journal editor is able to learn, this community was called to mourn the death of two of her citizens and pay respect and their memory in attending their funeral and burial services at the same hour. The time was Sunday and those we mourned were Frank Shaffer and his wife, Eldora Shaffer. Burial was in the Alma cemetery. the bodies of father and mother were ushered to their last resting place by two beautiful grey hearses followed by ninety relatives and scores of sorrowing friends.
