Read More	Big Timber Pioneer, December 29, 2000 Alice Muriel Johnson Adams, 84, of Melville, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2000, in the Family Focus Room at the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber. Alice was born in Duluth, Minnesota, October 24 1916 to Alexander Johnson and Petrine Larssen Johnson. She attended schools in Minnesota, Florida, and Ontario, Canada. She received her R.N. degree from Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota in 1938. She worked in Rochester upon graduation, then moved to Portland, Oregon in July 1939 where she worked at Emanuel Hospital. In October 1939 she trained in Chicago to become a stewardess with United Airlines. She flew with United until July 1942. Back in Portland working as a nurse, she met John A. Adams, a naval aviator. They were married in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 14, 1943. The first two children were born in Portland in 1944 and 1946. In 194 the family moved to Montana to begin ranching near Melville. Two more children arrived in 1949 and 1951. During her years ranching and raising her family, she became an active member of many community organizations, including 4-H, Big Timber Woman's Club, Republican Women's Club, and the Big Timber Lutheran Church. She served on several boards, focusing particularly on work with the Sweet Grass Community Hospital and later with the Regional Mental Health Center in Billings. She served on the committee that created Hearts and Hands Hospice and worked as a hospice volunteer nurse for ten years. For the past 20 years, Alice was an active member of the Melville Lutheran Church. She was an accomplished cook, hostess, painter, seamstress, and homemaker. Alice is survived by her children Alex Adams (Marky Poindexter, Nina (Bill) Christensen Richard Adams (Ross Kyllo), and Emily (Ben) Meek; her granddaughter, Jocelyn Christensen, and Madeline Hutton; dear friends Laurie and David Gano; and numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
