Read More	Alice Ormesher Higgin July 23, 1859-Nov 23, 1941 Mrs. Alice Ormesher Higgin, 82 years and 4 months passed away at Norfolk, Nebraska Sunday afternoon after an illness of many months. Coming to Cherry County in 1884 she was one of our real pioneers who at so rapidly thinning out and who during her life had experienced the trials and tribulations and the joys of pioneer friendships and associations. born at Wigan, England July 23, 1859, she was married at her home community in England to Francis H. Higgin December 26, 1882, coming to America a year later when they homesteaded S. E.S.E of Valentine. After a long and useful life she was called to her reward November 23, 1941 leaving to mourn her death, Mrs. Charles Ogle of Valentine, 10 nephews and other relatives as well as a host of friends. Valentine News Clipping Note: Alice's husband Frank Higgin preceded Alice in death by 17 years, dying in 1924. Alice's 82 year life spanned the American Civil War, Custer's Last Stand, the Spanish-American War, the sinking of the Titanic, World War One and the Great Depression. She died 2 weeks before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Alice's death in 1941 took place 58 years after she and Frank Higgin, her 62 year old mother Alice Halton Ormesher and 5 other adult children of Alice Halton Ormesher made their passage to America in 1883. With Alice Ormesher Higgin's passing, Alice Halton Ormesher, and her 6 adult Ormesher children who came to America were all at rest. Alice Halton Ormesher and 5 of her children are buried at or near Valentine, Nebraska. The 6th, Henry Ormesher, is buried at Chadron, Nebraska. the year of death and age at death for each is as follows: John Ormesher d. 1886, age 29-----Margaret Ormesher Vincent d. 1880, age 35---- Alice Halton Ormesher d.1891, age 70----Edward D.
