Bruce passed away Sunday noon, April 4th, at her home 804 McBratney Street, Clay Center after a lingering illness. The final Summons brought relief to her from all care and suffering. She had been a resident of this city for many years. The story of her life is written as follows: Roseltha Alice Robinson, was born in Addison county, Vermont, on March 18, 1853, and completed her early mission at Clay Center, Kansas, April 4, 1937 at the age of 84 years and 17 days. She was inited in marriage with James E. Harrison at Springdale, Kansas, February 16, 1869, and to this union sixteen children were born, ten sons and six daughters. Of these William, Viloa Jane, James E., and Michael Harrison are deceased. The surviving sons and daughters are Mes. Anna S. Evans of Junction City, Kansas; Mrs. Jennie Sonneberg of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Josie Schiltz of Clay Center; Andy Harrison of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Bessie Schiltz, Mrs. Goldie McKenzie and Charles Harrison all of Clay Center; Tilden Harrison of Wakefield, Kansas; Elder Harrison of Aurora, Ind.; John Harrison of Birch Run, Mich.; George Harrison of Denver, Colo.; Peter Harrison of Elizabeth, N.J.. A grandson, Bobby Harrison, now of California, also lived with them for some time. The husband, James E. Harrison, died May 6, 1927, and on November 19, 1929, Mrs. Harrison was married to R.C. Bruce, who preceded her to the great beyond a few months ago. Beside her children and grandchildren, Mrs. Bruce lieaves one brother, John Robinson of Oak Hill, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Lacy of Manchester. As a girl, Mrs. Bruce was member the Methodist church, and later joined the Congregational church in Clay Center. Later she was baptized into the church of the Latter Day Saints. She was a devout Christian; she loved her God and her Bible. She was a good mother and a good neighbor, making many sacrifices for others. Funeral services wre held Tuesday afternoon at the Peterson Chapel with Rev. L.F. Arend of the First M.E. Church in charge. Mrs. Arlen Taylor and Miss Folrence Duley, with Mrs. R.B. McCartney as accompanist, sang "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "Rock of Ages" and Jesus Savior, Pilot Me". Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery. The body bearers were Bryce Bloom, Leo Rose, Duane Holtgren, Ray Veltman Harold and Robert West. Relatives and friends joined in honoring the memory of a departed mother, and the foral offerings were beautiful. date of marriage to J.E. Harrison should be 25 March 1869 Alice Roseltha is my great-grandmother. The daughter of Francis and Sarah (Norton) Robinson. She is buried in the Bruce plot.
