Harrison, who for half a century has lived within its bountaries, coming to this county in 1877. James Edward Harrison, so of Christopher C. Harrison, and wife, was born in Platte county, MO., January 28, 1847, and passed away at his home in Clay Center, Kansas, May 6, 1927, at the advanced age of 80 years , 3 months and 8 days. He came to Kansas when he was 5 years old, where his parents settled in Leavenworth county and spent his young manhood there. He was united in marriage to Alice R. Roberson, March 25, 1869, and they lived happily together for more than 58 years. To them were born 16 children of whom Willam D., James E., and Viloa J. preceded their father in death, and Tilden E., of Junction City, Kans., Geo. R. and Andrew J. of Denver, Colo., Chars M. of Clay Center, Elder O. of Sunman, Ind., John M. of Denton, Kans., Peter B. of Elizabeth, N.J., Mike M. of Kanasa City, Mo., Mrs. D. J. Evans and Mrs. Mike Schiltz of Clay Center, Mrs. Peter Sannenberg of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Matt Schiltz and Mrs. E. Bennington, of Wakefield, with their aged mother survive to mourn the loss of a fond father and kind husband. The Harrisons settled near Industy more than 50 years ago and after 12 years, removed to wakefield where for over, 25 years Mr. Harrison was in the employ of the Union Pacific railroad. Later they lived in Clifton, while in railroad service and 8 years ago they came to Clay Center where they have lived ever since. He was a member of the M.W.A. formany years. He grew up in the fellowship of the M. E. church from childhood, being a member since youth, and a few years aog was baptized and received into the church of the Latter Day Saints. Besides his immediate family, Mr. Harrison leaves one brother, 48 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was lovingly cared for by his loyal wife and children, in his last days. The funeral occurred at the Peterson Funeral Home on Monday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Wallace Carpenter, evangelist. Pall bears were sons and sons-in-laws of the deceased. Appropriate music and lovely forlal offerings added comfort to the sorrowing family. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. James Edward is my great-grandfather. He is the son of Christopher C and Amelia Harrison. He married Alice Roseltha (Robinson)
