Read More	Birth: Mar. 30, 1893 Death: Oct. 9, 1954 Clarinda, , Iowa, USA Obituaries Alma Shipley Alma Edith Windom, daughter of Alvin and Sarah Windom, was born March 30, 1893 in Adams County, southeast of Nodaway, Ia. She passed away Oct. 9, 1954, at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital, at the age of 61 years, 0 months and 9 days. Her entire life was spent in the Nodaway community as a student, teacher, wife and mother. At seventeen years of age she joined the Methodist church and was an active participant in all phases of church work throughout her busy lifetime. In 1951 she reentered the teaching profession, serving as a rural sachool teacher in Adams county until the spring of 1954 and acting as a member of the Adams county Board of Education until her death. She was united in marriage on Jan. 23, 1915 to Fred A. Shipley. They lived all their married life on their farm south of Nodaway. To this union were born five children, Margaret Blackledge of Nevada; Enid Shupe of Manchester; James of Villisca, Malcolm and Earl of Nodaway. She was preceded in death by her mother in 1938 and her husband in 1945. Surviving are her children, seven grandchildren, her father Alvin Windom, two brothers Glenn and Arthur Windom, four sisters Emily Johnson, Ruth Hayden, Blanche Lund, Esthert Means, and twenty neices and nephews. Funeral services were held Oct. 12 at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist church in Nodaway with Rev. Carl Stiefel officiating. William A. Anderson sand "Beulah Land," "When They Ring Those Golden Bells" and "In That City" accompanied bu Mrs. Mabel Dunn at the organ. Interment was in the Nodaway cemetery. Pall bearers were Harold Everett, Lawrence Beck, Francis Goldsmith, Harry Cooney, Albert Everett and Lawrence Jaworski. Flower bearers were Dorothy Beck, Lucille Goldsmith and Lotus Mairiquist.
