Description	:	Almeda Emma Panning, 93, of Napoleon, Ohio died peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at her residence. She was born September 13, 1923 in Freedom Township, Ohio to the late Henry and Anna (Meyer) Bahler. She was married to Edwin Wachtman, who died serving his country in Italy during WWII and then married Rudolph Panning, who died October 1, 1974. She was a faithful member of... Read More	Almeda Emma Panning, 93, of Napoleon, Ohio died peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at her residence. She was born September 13, 1923 in Freedom Township, Ohio to the late Henry and Anna (Meyer) Bahler. She was married to Edwin Wachtman, who died serving his country in Italy during WWII and then married Rudolph Panning, who died October 1, 1974. Almeda was a homemaker and farm wife, who helped her husband on the farm. She also cooked at the Napoleon Filling Home and was a custodian at Four County Joint Vocational School. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Twp., where she was a member of the Women of the Church and former school deacon at the same time as her husband. She loved to volunteer and helped at the Napoleon Filling Home, served as a Gray Lady at Henry County Hospital and was a member of the Country View Haven Guild. She was also an animal lover and enjoyed new born calves, barn cats and kittens and dogs. She is survived by her children, Carol (Gary) Bernath, Jim Panning, and Pat (Andy) McMahon, all of Napoleon, grandchildren; Stephanie (Paul) Eggebrecht of Napoleon, Michelle Brown of Parma Heights, Jon (Desa) Bernath of Brooklyn, OH, and Rachel (Bill) Bailey of Cincinnati, 11 great grandchildren, and a brother, Henry (Leona) Bahler of Toledo, sister-in-law, Ruth Bahler of Napoleon, brother and sister-in-law, Henry (Marylin) Wachtman, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Panning, daughter-in-law, Nancy (Studer) Panning, and brothers, Lawrence and Edwin Bahler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
