Father Adam Reisz officiated. Casketbearers were all grandsons of the deceased: Gerald Cook, Robert Cook, Ronald Cook, Richard Brummer, Donald Brummer and Dennis Brummer. Barrett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Lunch was served following the service by the Altar Society. Aloysius H. Stolz was born Dec. 22, 1883 at Westphalia and died Nov. 18, 1970 at the Missouri Valley hospital. He was one of ten children born to Aloysius and Barbara Stolz. His parents emigrated from Germany and settled in the Shelby county area in the eighteen hundreds, where all the children were born. He was united in marriage Jan. 25 {sic}, 1909 to Elizabeth Honz of Earling. To this union two daughters were born. They farmed in the Panama and Portsmouth area until moving to Dunlap in 1918. After the death of his wife in 1932 he continued to farm until 1934 and in 1935 made his home with his daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Bus) Cook until his death Nov. 18, 1970. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Preceding him in death were his wife, Elizabeth; his parents; three brothers, three sisters, two of whom died in infancy. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. LeRoy (Aloysia) Cook of Dunlap and Mrs. Leonard (Regina) Brummer of Blair, Neb.; one brother, George of Defiance; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Smith and Mrs. Joe Weihs of Harlan; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
