He was born on April 29, 1917, in Goessel, the son of Abraham L. and Maria Schroeder Boese. He was a dairy and grain farmer. He was a lifelong member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church. He also sat on the Lehigh school board and was a member of the Tip Top Credit Union, Lehigh Co-op and the Mennonite Heritage Museum board. On Sept. 9, 1946, he married Audrey Unruh at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel. She passed away on March 20, 2011. He is survived by his children, Alan (Sharon) Boese of Lehigh; daughters, Anita Boese of Hillsboro, Ama (Murray) Reimer of Hutchinson and Aileen (David) Esau of Hillsboro; brother, Ralph (Viola) of Spokane, Wash.; sister, Rosella (Harold) Duerksen of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jacey (Darren) Anderson, Jessica and Joshua Boese, Drew and Ethan Reimer, and Evan and Anthony Esau; and great-grandchild, Brennen Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, and sisters, Matilda Duerksen, Linda Schmidt and Elsie Schmidt. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Alexanderwohl Cemetery, with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.
