"Alvin" Ramsbottom, the son of Louis Glenn and Maude Jefferson Ramsbottom, was born August 30, 1919, on a farm near Ida in Republic County, and died Thursday, April 21, 1988, at the Thayer County Memorial Hospital in Hebron, at the age of 68 years, seven months and 21 days. He attended Ida Grade School and graduated from Narka High School in 1938. As a child he attended the Munden Methodist Church. During World War II he was a welder in Richmond, Calif., building ships for the Kaiser Company. He and his father purchased Hebron Livestock in 1945. They were also partners in a farming operation in Kansas. After his father's death, he became owner and manager of the Hebron Livestock Commission Company. He sold the business in January of 1988. He was a past member of the Hebron City Council, past president of the Nebraska Auction Market Association, and present board member, a member of Fairbury Elks Lodge No. 1203, Thayer County Feeders Association, Nebraska Livestock Markets Association and Hebron Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Hebron; two sons, Jim of Hebron, Tom of Osceola, Nebr.; one brother, Ival Ramsbottom of Arlington, Tex.; three grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Hebron, with Rev. William B. Anderson and Mr. Jack Stewart officiating. Interment was in Ida Cemetery, Ida, Kans.
